Winter events, proposes Lamarche

Trois-Rivières – An edition of Polar RallyCross and an international competition of Kite on snow, these are advanced ideas and proposed by the candidate for the mayor of Trois-Rivières, Jean Lamarche, who wishes to improve the event offer winter if he accesses at the town hall on May 5th.
“The summer event offer is already very well stocked in Trois-Rivières, but people call me a lot on the winter offer. When we can take advantage of the expertise and visibility of events already in place, we can at the same time come to occupy times less well-stocked in the calendar. This is beneficial for hotels, restaurants, shops, but also for the general population, “believes Jean Lamarche.

Thus, the candidate intends to support the organization of the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières, which has been working for two years to include a round of the FIA World Rally Championship in its programming. A winter event that will be presented on the Trois-Rivières racetrack site in 2020, if everything goes according to plan.

“It’s a little vision, to take a model that works well and see how it can be reproduced in winter. To that, one would graft family, cultural, sports activities. It’s possible to do it and the goal is always to aim for partnerships, “says Jean Lamarche, who estimates that the City should invest about $ 100,000.

In addition, the candidate for the mayor would also like to see come to Trois-Rivières a stage of the Snowkite World Championship on Lake St. Pierre. Already, the Wax Kitesurf Boutique School team has been hosting the Kite Challenge of Quebec for the past five years and, in the opinion of Mr. Lamarche, would be very interested in getting involved in the winter version of this competition. .

“It also adds a family dimension and initiation, which brings the public goal of this event. It brings not only economic and tourist benefits in the Pointe-du-Lac sector and everywhere in Trois-Rivières, but it gives images worthy of postcards, “says Jean Lamarche, who will however wait to see this project be a little more advanced before assessing the share that the City might have to assume in such an event.

Through the organization of winter events, Jean Lamarche would also like to involve various organizations to carry out these projects. He quotes Tourisme Trois-Rivières, the Corporation des événements and the FestiVoix, all of which, in their own way, could bring their expertise to contribute to the success of these activities.
