This is how the groups of the Copa Sudamericana remained.
The South American Cup will debut in this 2021 edition and for the first time will leave behind the direct elimination in all its phases to now use the group areas. Of the six teams classified, there were four that entered as head of the series according to the Conmebol ranking measured in February 2021: Rosario Central, Independiente, Newell’s and Lanús were part of the first round of balls during the draw. Arsenal and Talleres were appearing later and joining groups without Argentines.
It must be remembered that in an area there cannot be teams from the same country, but the coincidence of nationalities will be accepted in the case of the four teams that will come down from the Libertadores, which are not yet defined and will be in the fourth pot. Example: San Lorenzo, if he did not turn the series around with Santos, he would fall into Group A, which already has Canalla inside.
The four teams that will emerge from the Libertadores will be the losers of these crosses: the aforementioned Santos-San Lorenzo (3-1 the first leg), Atlético Nacional-Libertad (0-1), Bolívar-Junior de Barranquilla (2-1) and Independiente del Valle-Gremio (the first match will be played this Friday) .
Two teams from Uruguay remain to be defined, which will emerge from the crosses Peñarol-Cerro Largo (2-2 the first leg) and Fénix-Montevideo City Torque (0-0), scheduled for April 13 and 14, respectively.
