Dozens of patients who attend the clinic of gynecology of the Lachine of the McGill university health Centre (MUHC) have learned of its closure on the 1st of April next.
The journal Gazette reports that a note attached to the door of the clinic located at the Lachine hospital invites you to be find a gynaecologist at the hospital of LaSalle the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux (CIUSSS) of the West island of Montréal.
Dr. Paul Saba, who chairs the Council of physicians, dentists and pharmacists of the Lachine hospital, is convinced that the hospital LaSalle does not have sufficient resources to accommodate the people who attend the clinic of Lachine.
Patients have already written to the leadership of the MUHC to ask him to reconsider his decision. Each year, about 700 consultations are made to Lachine by the gynecologists in place.
In an e-mail sent to the newspaper, communications officer of the MUHC, Gary Francoeur, explains that the mission given to the Lachine hospital is to offer more care for men while those for women will be further referred to the hospital in LaSalle.
Last June, the Quebec government granted a budget of $ 95 million to the Lachine hospital for the construction of a new pavilion that will house functional units, including emergency, intensive care, the medicine of day, the hospitalisation units, medicine and surgery as well as palliative care. The work must begin in the fall of 2020 and the end of work is scheduled for the spring of 2023.
