The Montreal canadiens has won thanks to the performance of Max Domi, author of two goals.
Carey Price made it great to sit in the head in the history of the Canadian chapter of victories, making twenty stops to help montreal defeat the Detroit Red Wings, 3-1, on Tuesday.
Price now totals 315 victories in the uniform blue-white-red, one more than Jacques Plante.
He had to keep the fort for more than a period and a half while Jonathan Bernier was in great shape at the other end of the rink. Price has then achieved its most beautiful stop with about twelve minutes to play in the third period, doing the splits to stop Tyler Bertuzzi breakaway.
Max Domi and Brett Kulak have finally hit the target in the second period for the Canadian (37-26-7), which had lost its last two games. Tomas Tatar has amassed two aides and Domi added his second of the match by scoring in an empty net with to 48.8 seconds remaining.
This victory has allowed the Canadian to maintain the pace imposed by the Blue Jackets of Columbus, who defeated the Boston Bruins 7-4.
The Canadian and the Blue Jackets have 81 points at the counter, but the formation of Ohio is the eighth largest in front of the Habs, by virtue of his number of wins gained in regulation time and in overtime.
Andreas Athanasiou has moved the ropes early in the third period and Bernier has finally realized thirty-three stops in front of the net for the Red Wings (24-36-10), who have only one victory in their last twelve outings (1-8-3).
The warden quebec has resisted the onslaught of the Canadian for a long time, but the Red Wings have finally lost a ninth consecutive game this season against the Habs. Their last win against montreal dating back to march 21, 2017.
Bernier has notably stopped Tatar breakaway in the beginning of the game and Kulak to the result of a cross-sectional Domi. It has also frustrated Phillip Danault on a launch on the receipt at point-blank range during a numerical advantage in the second period.
Domi has finally opened the scoring with 7 min 33 s to make the second commitment, by diverting a pass from Andrew Shaw in the upper part of the net. Kulak was then credited with the second goal of the Canadian with 2 min 28 s to do so in the second twenty, with the help of a good run that surprised Bernier.
Athanasiou has reignited the debate, beating Price after 40 seconds of the game in the third, but Price was intractable by the following. He heard the crowd chanting his name after a few stops spectacular, including the one at the expense of Bertuzzi.
Kulak had been reinserted in the formation of the Canadian, while Mike Reilly had been left out. Tatar was also to return to the game after having missed the last game due to a virus. Dale Weise was not in uniform.
The victory allowed Claude Julien to join Bryan Murray at 15th place for the most wins as a head coach in NHL history with 620.
The Canadian will play its next game on Thursday, when he will visit the New York Islanders.
