On Wednesday night, the wife of the famous filmmaker Robert Downey Sr. confirms that he passed away Wednesday morning in his home in New York, writes New York Daily News.
The iconic filmmaker, who is behind films such as “Putney Swope” and “Greaser’s Palace”, has been battling Parkinson’s disease for more than five years, the newspaper writes.

The 85-year-old has lived almost all his life in New York, and was married to author Rosemary Rogers from 1998 until his death.
He also leaves behind a daughter, Allyson Downey, and a son, the famous actor Robert Downey Jr., whom he had with his ex-wife Elsie Ford.
On Instagram, the son is clearly in mourning over the loss of his father, where he writes that he fell asleep peacefully. He also sends warm words to the stepmother.
Rosemary Rogers was at home with her husband when he passed away.
