In the Realme did not come up with a unique form factor and made the headphones the most similar to the AirPods. Good or bad — let everyone decide for himself. Promotional Materials Realme

Liners made of glossy plastic and equipped with “legs”, which is Packed almost all the electronics. The main part of the housing contains a speaker and proximity sensors, thanks to which headphones understand when to get them out of your ears and put the music on pause.

Outside located microphones and panels for touch control. On the bottom of the legs of the second pair of microphones and magnetic connectors for charging.

The case is also reminiscent of the AirPods, and that’s probably for the best. It’s very small, fits in your jeans pocket and easy to open with one hand. At the bottom is USB Type‑C connector for charging and on the front side has the LED and button interfacing.

Due to the streamlined shape of the earbud comfortably in the ear. However, the fit is not the most reliable, so do not engage them in sports. Not included silicone clips, the device comes only with a USB charging cable.

Connection and communication

The button on the case suggests that the pairing process is not as simple as in the AirPods. And indeed, you must open the box and hold the button for 3 seconds to headphones have entered the connection, only then the smartphone will be able to detect them. In the future, the device interface when you open the case, and the button will need only the change the Bluetooth source.

The communication quality excellent. In the “feet” has a powerful antenna, thanks to which headphones keep connection with a smartphone at any point of the apartment, even through walls. Problems with sync channels, and a delay also occurs. The gadget has got a separate game mode for the most stable transmission of the audio signal.

Also Realme Buds Air have performed well in the role of the headset. When talking one pair of microphones captures the voice, and the second captures the ambient noise, after which the latter suppressed a built-in CPU.

Management

Interaction with the device happens through a touch panel on the outside of the buildings. Double-clicking on any headset is responsible for start, pause and receiving calls; triple pressing includes the following track.

Two second clamping one liner puts the outgoing call on hold and rejects the incoming, and also activates the voice assistant. If you hold down both the earphone, you can start or cancel the game mode.

For some unknown logic combination to activate the previous track is not provided. Also annoying tiny size touch panels it’s easy to miss, especially on the go.

Sound

Realme Buds Air had dynamic speakers and semi-open acoustic design. Despite the orientation of the sound channel in the ear canal, headphones don’t create the vacuum effect, so the sound is not annoying for many hours.

The overall flow is balanced, the desire to turn the equalizer does not occur. Best earphones convey vocals and instruments of the middle register, such as guitar and keyboards. While they are not crushing bass, as in other models with the same form factor.

High frequency allotted to the background and serves the most relaxed. That’s why the sound is not tiring. However, this imposes certain restrictions: aggressive melodies do not sound as hard as the waiting for.

The stock volume is sufficient for listening in a quiet environment. If you use headphones in the subway, you have to twist the volume to the limit values, and this is a recipe for hearing damage. For listening to music in noisy places needed headphones with good isolation or active noise cancellation.

Autonomy

The claimed operation time is 3 hours from built-in batteries, and carrying case provides another 14 hours of work. Headphones withstood 3 days of active use of listening to music and podcasts, viewing videos on YouTube and work as a headset. A good result for such a compact device. Recharge the headphones and the case takes 2 hours.

The results

In Russia Realme Air Buds are sold at a price of 4 990 rubles. For the money the new product offers a time-tested design, good quality Bluetooth connection, good sound and decent battery life.

Of course, you can blame the model for not the most convenient operation and the excessive similarity with the AirPods. However, in the Realme picked a good role model and produced a quality product at a low price, so a buyer Air Buds will definitely find.

The author thanks Realme for provided test device. The company had no opportunity to influence the test result.
