The Immigration department agrees to continue to treat the 18 000 records of immigrants in waiting, until the adoption of the draft law.

Quebec does not intend to no longer challenge the request of the quebec Association of lawyers and lawyers in immigration law. On Monday, a joint request for a safeguard order was filed in the superior Court to renew the interim order that had been imposed last week by judge Frederic Bachand.

The law society warns the government

“The decision of the minister [Simon Jolin-Barrette] obviously can not find a legal justification valid in a statute not yet in force “, said the judge Bachand. “[Mr. Jolin-Barrette] must act in accordance with the law in force, and not on the basis of a legislative amendment proposed, ” he decided.

The injunction issued by judge Bachand was valid until 7 march, the date on which it would have had to be renewed.
