    Gonzalo Maroni isolated by symptoms

The midfielder Gonzalo Maroni became Boca’s third casualty yesterday for the visit to Unión de Santa Fe next Sunday, presenting symptoms compatible with the coronavirus and being isolated on the recommendation of the medical body.

Maroni, who on Thursday had tested negative in the PCR swabs to the entire “Xeneize” staff, joins Agustín Obando -in a similar situation regarding possible contagion- and Nicolás Capaldo, who did test positive in general tests.

The midfielder, who had a stint at Sampdoria in Italy, had already had COVID-19 at the time of the outbreak within the Boca squad, last November, prior to the restart of the official AFA tournaments and the Copa Libertadores.

In this context, the Boca squad trained yesterday at the Ezeiza Sports Center, where coach Miguel Ángel Russo set up the starting team to visit Unión in Santa Fe, on Sunday from 6:30 p.m., for the ninth date of the Zone B of the Professional League Cup.

In that sense, due to the absence of Capaldo on the right side, Russo would choose to return ownership to Julio Buffarini, who was relegated at the end of last year, amid unsuccessful negotiations for the renewal of his contract with the Football Council.

The last official match of Cordoba was on January 18, when Boca defeated Banfield in the final of the “Diego Maradona” Cup of the Professional League.

In the current Professional League Cup, the defender has played just 69 minutes: 25 in 7-1 to Vélez and 44 in the 2-1 defeat against Talleres in La Bombonera.

Beyond confirming the entry of Buffarini, Russo still has a doubt in the middle of the court, where Cristian Medina and Agustín Almendra fight for a position, and another in the attack, where Mauro Zárate and Edwin Cardona fight hand-in-hand. hand the place to accompany Carlos Tevez and Sebastián Villa.

Thus, the 11th to play in Santa Fe would be: Esteban Andrada; Carlos Zambrano, Carlos Izquierdoz, Marcos Rojo; Buffarini, Jorman Campuzano, Medina o Almendra, Frank Fabra; Zárate or Cardona, Tevez and Villa.

“Xeneize” is third in the standings with 13 points, in the quarter-final qualifying zone, but it cannot be trusted because there are five other teams separated by just three units, including “Tatengue” (11).
