Independent of the Valley of Ecuador traced an adverse score and beat Gremio de Brasil 2-1, in the first leg for the third phase of the Copa Libertadores-2021 played this Friday in Asunción.

The two goals of the Ecuadorians were the work of the Argentine Lorenzo Faravelli, at 53 and 61 minutes (penalty).
The Brazilian tricolor team had gone ahead on the scoreboard at 9 minutes through their forward Diego Souza, who jumped higher than defender Schunke to beat goalkeeper Wellington Ramírez’s resistance with a header.
The adversity did not daunt the Sangolquí team that took the initiative and created several opportunities in the first half.
Forward Pedro Vite already approached with a ball that hit the crossbar after 35 minutes.
Gremio was harmed by a goal disallowed by Diego Souza for supposedly advanced position, at 43 minutes. The scorer had completed a play full of luxuries, where the Chilean César Pinares handed him the cue ball.
But at this stage of the tournament the VAR does not work.

The precision and speed of the Ecuadorian side was crowned with Faravelli’s goal at 53, after a succession of passes with the Paraguayan Brian Montenegro and his attacking partner Vite.
The subjugation of the former champions of the Copa Sudamericana 2019 did not stop there, because they began to display their orderly, precise and even daring football as in a surgical operation to break the center of the Brazilian defense with short passes.
At 59 minutes, defender Ruan fouled the Paraguayan striker from Independiente Brian Montenegro in the area. Argentine referee Nestor Pitana charged a penalty and sent off the Brazilian player.
At 61, he was in charge of converting the Argentine Faravelli with a shot to the center of the goal. The goalkeeper threw himself to his left.
The Ecuadorian team led by the Portuguese Renato Paiva, with more ground in their favor due to their numerical superiority, handled the rest of the match calmly.
He multiplied his opportunities in attack, where even defender Segovia was placed in an attacking position with a shot that goalkeeper Brenno could barely contain.
But Diego Souza once again had a chance that he inexplicably wasted and that could have meant a draw for his team.
The rematch will be played within a week in Porto Alegre and the winner of the series will enter Group A made up of Palmeiras, University of Peru and Defense and Justice of Argentina.
The loser will play the Copa Sudamericana in the Group H made up of Lanús (ARG), La Equidad (COL) and Aragua (VEN).
