The expert Committee of the NOC discussed the performances of Ukrainian athletes at the world Championships in weightlifting, karate, Boxing and gymnastics. In the end, a silver medal Vernaeve at the event in Doha was decisive in the fight for the title of best athlete of November.
Recall, after two operations in the beginning of the year Vernaeve recovered for the world Cup and won a silver medal in the exercises on the parallel bars.
In addition, last season the world Cup in Cottbus the Verniaiev won gold in the uneven bars.
Recall Vernaeve admitted that this season was quite difficult for him.
“This season has been as brutal as ever, but at the same time interesting and emotional. After the surgery in such a short time to return was difficult, risky, even scary, but interesting. Everyone was surprised that I finished the all-around world championship. To return to the carpet always cool! I am very happy!
Honestly, went to this world championship the first time, have experienced some children’s emotions: joy and happiness. The recovery process we, of course, accelerated. Typically, only a year after surgery you can start training, and I’m already 8 months I spoke at competitions, and after 9 played in the all-around world championship.
Thank God, everything turned out. The main goal in the world Cup was a team, namely to qualify in the TOP 24 to compete for a ticket to the Olympics in Tokyo 2020.
The goal for next season we have to gather a team that can fight for medals at the Olympic games. For this we need 4 strong all-rounder. At the moment it’s me, Peter Pahnyuk, Vlad Griko and Eugene Yudenkov, which is now recovering after a trauma”, – told the Vernaeve.
As reported by the portal Znayu American gymnast became a four-time world champion.
