Albert Einstein is the author of the Letters of God, which was founded in 1954. It served as a response to the work of philosopher Eric Gutkind. It’s hard to believe, because a theoretical physicist all my life I rejected the religion.
Such a unique and incredible discovery was sold at auction for nearly $ 3 million. And that’s twice the expected amount. It was assumed that a note will sell for 1-1.5 million dollars.
The new York auction house Christie’s said in a statement:
“That’s wonderful Frank, a personal letter was written by Einstein a year before his death. It is the most complete picture of his philosophical and religious views”.
In the article the scientist outlined his thoughts on religion and God:
“The word God is for me – it is only the expression and product of human weaknesses. The Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends.
No interpretation, no matter how slim it may be, will not be able to change my attitude”.
In the letter he also thought about his own Jewish identity.
“The Jewish people to which I belong and whose mentality I feel deeply attached to me is no different from other peoples.”
“As for my experience, they are actually no better than other people, even if they are protected from the worst hell for lack of power.”
Earlier this year, the auction was put up other notes of albert Einstein. He warned about the increase of anti-Semitism more than 10 years before the Nazis seized power in Germany. They were sold for 32 thousand dollars.
And last year the letter with thoughts of a scientist on happiness and life was sold for $ 1.5 million.
