The trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf is presented this Friday morning at the tribunal correctionnel de Créteil, and at the hearing.
The franco-lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf, who had embraced a collégienne montpellier internship in a recording studio in 2013, was held, Friday for the sexual assault before the tribunal correctionnel de Créteil. Six-month suspended prison sentences have been required.
The musician Ibrahim Maalouf was held on Friday by the tribunal correctionnel de Créteil, accused of having embraced a collégienne during a course of a week, in his studio in Ivry-sur-Seine.
Ibrahim Maalouf, then a 33-year-old, who has always recognized a “single act” that he “immediately regretted” according to the public prosecutor, has embraced the girl, at the time aged 14 years and educated in third, at the end of the week of training. But his parents made a report one year after the facts with the prosecutor’s office of Montpellier, where they lived with their daughter, and an investigation has been opened. It has led to placement in custody in January 2017, Ibrahim Maalouf, now 37 years old.
In love with the musician
The girl had started to scarify, to make a crisis of bulimia. She has seen a doctor and revealed that there had been fondling sex”, affirms the lawyer of the family, Jean-Baptiste Moquet. For the auxiliary of justice, the young girl, “love” the musician and “fascinated” by him, had wanted to protect.
The preliminary inquiry had been opened for “sexual assault”, which requires the consent of the minor. “At the end of the investigations,” however, the prosecutor felt “that there had been no consent of the victim and decided to return,” Ibrahim Maalouf before the court for “sexual assault”.
A kiss according to Ibrahim Maalouf
Depending on the version of the young woman, now aged 18 years, the musician would have kissed for the first time one evening at the exit of a cinema. A “kiss with the tongue”, she says, “kiss”, according to Ibrahim Maalouf. For him, it was the young girl who was in the original : “I took her wrists, I pulled out of it, without the rush”.
Two days later, and according to the version of the girl, the musician would have again kissed, in his recording studio this time, where she was doing an internship. It would have been “caught by the basin”, mimicking a sexual act. “I felt her sex behind me on my butt”, she had said to investigators. “In any case I had physical or sexual attraction” to this “girl”, defended on Friday the musician, feeling “guilty” of “not having been able to put limits.”
The release requested by the defence
For the prosecutor, however, no doubt. There has been a “surprise” and “constraint”. In its requisition, the magistrate pointed to the “non-dangerousness” of Ibrahim Maalouf and noted that it did not wish to require that the latter, who teaches music to young people, can no longer work with minors. “There are times where that can happen, each of us, to commit crimes,” he said.
In its argument, the lawyer of Ibrahim Maalouf, Maud Sobel, has spoken of “despite love,” a young girl who “would have liked this transgression continues”. She pleaded for the acquittal, noting that there was no evidence to support his guilt.
