The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) has filed an appeal against the decision of the Moscow city court, which on the territory of the Russian Federation has restored sportsman Alexander Zubkov in the status of the Olympic champion games in Sochi in 2014.
The IOC formally requested the ROC to provide assistance and to take the necessary measures for the execution of the decision of the court of arbitration for Sport (CAS) said on the official website of the ROC.
In a statement, the OCD noted that failure to enforce the provisions of the Olympic Charter of the IOC in the Russian Federation may entail the most severe sanctions, including the suspension of Russian athletes from participation in the Olympic games in Tokyo in 2020.
Also, the Committee indicates that the court has no jurisdiction to review verdicts of the arbitration sports court, and such decisions can cause doubts that in Russia really recognized the main principles of the fight against doping in sport.
Holding the office of President of the bobsleigh Federation of Russia Alexander Zubkov was stripped of two gold medals of the Olympics in Sochi because of the anti-doping rule violation.
Russia had not participated at the Olympic games-2018. Then the Russian sportsmen acted as neutral athletes.
