The mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi has put in place a charter of marriage in order to prevent abuse.
The mayor LR of Nice Christian Estrosi announced that it would cancel Saturday a wedding ceremony that was to take place in the day, after a jet of smoke on a police station, during the passage of the bridal procession. Two people were arrested.
The police said his side have made two arrests. “After the many violations of the code of the route of a procession, the use and the jet of smoke on the commissioner Auvare, I gave instructions not to celebrate a wedding scheduled for that day, under the charter signed by the future spouses,” said the mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi.

“Given the gravity of the breaches”, it did not “desired date postponement” of marriage. The author of the jet of smoke, a Marseillais 26-year-old who was driving one of the cars in the procession, was placed in custody in the framework of an investigation opened for “voluntary violence with a weapon against a person agent of the public authority,” said a police source.
Insults, contempt and Mercedes entry
He acknowledged the launch of the smoke over the wall of the enclosure of the commissioner and his Mercedes was seized. Another participant at the wedding was also arrested, for contempt, after having insulted the forces of order and placed in police custody.
On 2 September, a wedding had already been postponed, following numerous violations of the code of the road and endangering others by another wedding procession. It was the fifth graduation ceremony of a marriage voided under this charter, weddings, denounced as discriminatory and electioneering by the left opposition in Nice.
A charter of marriages
Edictée in 2012 in Nice, the charter commits the bride and groom – “don’t disturb the peace, the tranquility and the solemnity of the moment”. It prohibits even deploying “flags, notably foreign”.
