More than 150 high school students arrested in Mantes-la-Jolie : the video that shocked the tweeters.

But this Thursday, December 6, 2018, the police intervened to stop the 153 high school in Mantes-la-Jolie, in the Yvelines. It happened near the blockades of high schools of Saint-Exupéry and Jean-Rostand, not far from the city of Val-Fourré.
Actions that were filmed and then broadcast on social networks and which have been strongly criticized on Twitter. We can see the teenagers kneeling, hands behind the head. Some were even handcuffed, while others have the face against a wall. The AFP has confirmed the authenticity of the images.
Many French were outraged in many tweets, men and women politicians doing the same as Benoît Hamon, who finds it “chilling” and “unconscionable” or Cécile Duflot, who found this scene as being “intolerable”.
In total, there would be “190 kept in view in the department of Yvelines, of which 153 in Mantes-la-Jolie” took over The World, who have between 12 and 20 years. The ministry of the Interior recalled to Liberation that these young people have been “arrested and detained in police custody for participation in a group with a view to the preparation of voluntary violence or destruction or damage”.
“No youth has been injured, or mistreated”
Since Tuesday, 4 December, tensions increased between the students and the police. The first would have set fire to bins and threw projectiles at the security forces. These latter have responded with tear gas grenades.
At the microphone of France Inter on Friday 7 December 2018, the minister of national Education Jean-Michel Blanquer has recognized : “The image is necessarily shocking”, “when I saw these images myself, of course I’ve been shocked”. But he also wished to indicate that”it was necessary to “put the images in context”. “Ce was not a roundup of what happened yesterday, we use words which are totally unsuitable” he said.
The prefect of Yvelines, Jean-Jacques Brot, has also declared to the World that “these images are stunning”, before adding that however, “no youth has been injured, or mistreated, we have had no complaint”. The commissioner of the city, for its part, explained to the AFP that the purpose of these arrests was mostly “interrupt a process uncontrolled”.
The newspaper reported that the prosecutor of the Republic has warned that the majority of the adolescents (minors) has been released. A score of them, however, should be “brought to justice this Friday”.
