With the introduction of martial law, the Ukrainians increasingly began to discuss the question of their own security. And the presence of equipped shelters in residential neighborhoods has become one of the most debated topics among the public. So Znayu decided to investigate is Kiev ready in case of unexpected incidents as the capital of covers, what condition are they in and in what areas the smallest number of shelters.
In areas from 43 to 427 stores
Information about the hiding places of the population in the underground space can now be found in a separate section on Google Maps and on the website of the Department of municipal improvement of Kyiv city state administration. It set out a list for each of the districts of the capital. Judging by the provided data, only in Kiev there are 2308 object where you can hide.
As stated on the website of the Department of urban development, of the 10 districts the highest number of stores concentrated in the area Darnytskyi – numbering 427. On the second place by number – Shevchenkivskiy district with a figure of 366 units.
Desnyanskiy district – 380 shelters, Obolonskiy – 283, in Solomenskiy – 235, in goloseyevsky – 226. In the Podolsk district, marked 160 stores, in svyatoshynskyi – 100.
The smallest number in the Dnieper area, according to the specified list posted 43 “security object”. Pechersk district with the number 88 on the penultimate place.
According to the data, designed the store, on average, 70 – 500 people, but something in the list you can see and shelter for 40 and more than 1000 people.
In the city centre “to run on the arrow to nowhere”?
Znayu I decided to personally visit several stores in the city centre. However, the result is not what surprised, and shocked.
Visiting multiple addresses in the Shevchenko district, we have not managed to find any of the listed shelters.
According to published on the website of the KSCA list, Big Vasilkovsky, 18 should be the appropriate object, with capacity for 239 people, while on the Big Vasylkivska, 20 72.
However, we saw only one wall the words “Shelter”, but the corresponding input or basement we didn’t see from the roadway or in the yard.
And, judging by the tattered and dull paint, it is no longer updated.
As it turned out, the presence of “premises security” I don’t know even the local janitors.
“There must be a shelter…? I will not tell. I have not seen here even something like a room” – told us a local janitor.
On the house № 16 on the street Big Vasilkovsky, which also should be a shelter, there are no pointers.
The outrage of local residents – no limit.
“It’s the most center of Kiev! There should be places where people can hide in case. Now, such an acute situation in the South and the East, Putin pulls troops – anything can happen! Is it martial law? Where to go in case of unexpected actions of Russia? It will be a solid crush and a panic – people will be left in a hopeless situation, since I have seen next to no real shelter,” complains Irina Vasilenko, a resident of the Shevchenko district.
On Pushkin, 45/2, which should be a shelter for 100 people, walls are more “picturesque” – we saw several signal red labels.
The arrows drawn under them, pointed to the archway in the house.
However, when we arrived, we saw only local Park that is located behind iron gates.
“No there is nothing. Here and patio manyusenky becomes several cars and all” – said an employee of a local firm.
The locals have not heard about the availability of storage.
“I go here daily, but apart from the decals, never saw anything. Jokes aside, where do people hide when the bullets start flying or some kind of harmful substance release in the capital? Or run on the arrows to nowhere?”, says 21-year-old student Eugene, a resident of the Shevchenko district.
How to get don’t know even the local workers
The house on Shota Rustaveli, 27 we saw identical graffiti. What’s more, we even managed to find the door marked.
However, getting there was impossible. On the door is a combination lock. On knock nobody has not told us. In order to see the desired cover, we turned to the employees of local companies located in the same building listed on the label storage.
“The keys to the shelter and no one gave us. And, in General, completely unknown is whether it is there really… to Get there we ourselves cannot,” said the employees of local firms.
“Remember that we are talking about the safety of the people, not cats”
People in other areas also complain about the discrepancy between the real facts with the information on the website of the Department of urban improvement.
“The list of addresses is the prospect of Truth, 70. However, neither I nor my neighbors in this house have not seen even mandatory labels “Shelter”. I go here every day, but no markings are seen,” – said Vyacheslav, a resident of the Podolsk district.
On the official website of the Main Directorate DSNS Ukraine in Kiev on Facebook, where links were posted to the lists of addresses, immediately there were comments from Kiev on some of the addresses.
“There are substantive comments. I wish they were brought to the leadership. The claimed numbers with the stores – it’s just houses with basements, but basements are closed at the locks, and nobody to monitor their condition,” – said Dmitry Mashkovsky, commenting on the situation in the neighborhood towers of Goloseevsky area.
We have not found any positive feedback, the vast majority of comments – the statements of outraged residents of the capital.
“A big request to the Main Department of DSNS to take this situation under control and remember that we are talking about the safety of the people, not cats living in cellars”, – complains the inhabitant of Kiev Olga Prilutsky.
Because the impression is that the actual availability of the storage, not to mention their condition, has long no one checked. Why it happened and who is responsible for the improvement of the capital’s shelters, Znayu trying to figure out in the near future.
So read more in the future on the portal Znayu.
Earlier Znayu wrote that in Kiev close to metro: a complete list of stations.
Also Znayu wrote that Kiev museums will open doors to all: useful and free, save the list.
