The PETA organization specializing in the protection of animals, has angered some established expressions in the English language. Its representatives decided to replace with alternatives-known idioms, which reflect the cruelty to animals.
For example, the expression “to Kill two birds with one stone”, they suggested to change to “Feed two birds with one scone” and “Kicking a dead horse” – to “Feed the well-fed horse.” They believe that instead of the phrase “to Provide for the family bacon” it should be used “to Provide for the family bread.”
Is the idiom “to Be a Guinea pig,” the organization suggested to use “to Be a test tube for tests.” And the expression “to Pull the cat’s whiskers” is replaced by “Miss rose behind the thorns”.
Animal advocates equate such a brutal expression to homophobic and racist statements. Such idioms are many, many people do not take them seriously and do not think about their meaning. Therefore, the representatives of organizations believe their use unacceptable.
They may be able to get his, and the lexicon of the inhabitants of the different countries will enter their proposed options.
