A cohort of 350 students, franco-ontarians will converge on the École secondaire catholique de Casselman (CCHS) on Wednesday to take part in the 30th edition of the tournament provincial improvisation of the Association franco-ontarienne des ligues d’improvisation étudiante (The AFOLIE).
In total, 32 teams of improv from the four corners of the province will meet you on the ” ice ” (adventure game) 2 to 5 may. The tournament will bring together teams from as far away as Timmins, Chapleau and Sarnia.
“This activity promotes the French fact. It connects at the same time the French pleasure “, stressed Céline Bastien, a teacher responsible for the activity.
It will be a first for CCHS as the host school of the tournament’s largest improvisation francophone youth in Canada. The local team is the Dynamos of Casselman. They will try to win one of four trophies, and possibly the ” Stanley Cup “, the highest award of the tournament.
“It is an event made by and for young people, launches Ms. Bastien. Everything is prepared by young volunteers, including former members of the team improv school. It is really extraordinary.”
For the occasion, six mirrors will be arranged through the school. Nearly 140 matches will be played. The matches will be refereed by members of group humorous franco-ontarian Improtéine.
Participants will be able to count on the presence of two comedians, Alexandre Bisaillon and Yannick de Martino. Two young comedians from the region, Ghislain Chénier Plantagenet and Frederic Lalonde of Hawkesbury, will also have the chance to go on stage. The games will be broadcast live on the YouTube site.
