The councilor Ainara Leiba Zabalbeitia will be inaugurated on Friday as mayor of Muskiz on replacement of Borja Liaño Abarrategi who submitted his resignation from office on March 30 after almost 15 years devoted to the municipal life of Muskizi, of which practically ten did so in front of the plenary session of his hometown.
The until now councilor for Education, Festivities and Library, Ainara Leiba, obtained the majority support of the municipal assembly held this past Wednesday in which 71% of the affiliation of EAJ-PNV took part; a decision that catapults her to bear the maximum local responsibility.
Ainara Leiba es Degree in Law from the University of Deusto, currently combined his profession of lawyer with own office with the municipal charge. During his childhood and adolescence he lived in Zorroza, where he took his first steps as a grassroots jeltzale militant. Without having reached the age of majority, he was already part of the municipal council of this Bilbao district. A political concern that has not stopped growing over the years and, after settling in Muskiz, the town where his mother was born, he transferred his affiliation to this municipality in 1996 as a grassroots activist. However, his nonconformity led him to become even more involved in municipal politics as part of the Muskiz Municipal Board until in December 2019 he became responsible for the Education Area after the dismissal presented by Maitane Gallarreta.
Leiba has never lost contact with Muskiz since, although he lived in Bilbao on weekends and on vacation, he returned to his maternal family’s house. According to the candidate, “my family” is the mother of two children – it is my great passion. I love accompanying them when they practice sports and also traveling as a family. “-

Education. She has only been in the Education Area for a year, but Ainara Leiba Zabalbeitia has managed to gain the respect and support of the Muskiz school community. Mother of two young children who kick the ball at JD Somorrostro and study in the town, Ainara happens to be an outgoing, empathetic person and a “political romantic” – as she likes to define herself – which will undoubtedly be great help for his new assignment that comes almost like a gift in advance of his upcoming birthday. So far it has already reached a milestone. Be the first mayor of Muskiz.
