The minister of Health and social Services, Danielle McCann, announced Wednesday the launch of the process leading to the appointment of the next commissioner of the health and well-being (CSBE), which should enter into the job the next summer.

In the next few weeks, various partners of the network of health and social services and members of the board of health and social services will be invited to sit as members of the nominating committee.

This committee shall propose to the minister a list of names of people it deems suitable to be appointed as commissioner. At the end of the process, the minister will submit a recommendation to the Council of ministers.

The minister McCann believes that the CSBE plays an important role as independent observer of the system of health and social services, in particular by issuing recommendations for improving the accessibility and quality of services offered to users.

When the budget of march 2016 in the previous government of the liberal Party (QLP), the activities of CSBE were abolished, which had denounced the holder of the position at the time, Robert Salois. He had recalled that the commissioner was an independent actor of the lobbies, of the minister and the ministry of Health, as well as the different people who work within the network.
