On the eve of the international day of strike action for the climate, at least 148 500 students from Quebec had chosen to disengage, to take part in the movement which called for greater ambition in the fight against climate change.

By recognising the students of universities and junior colleges which have opted for a one-day general strike, on march 15, the group “The planet is invited to the university” evaluated on Thursday by the end of the day that the 148 500 students had voted for a one-day general strike.

These students, distributed in 116 student associations from 35 higher education institutions from different regions of Québec, would therefore take part in one of around ten events planned on Friday.
